  2013-2013 | Machinist/ Fabricaton

  Turned bearing rings of ductile iron for use in rebuilding marine pumps on a large LeBlond engine lathe. Assisted in testing procedures (set-up and operation) of marine pumps prior to delivery to customer.

• O'brien Iron Works

  2013-2013 | Part-Time Machinist

  Performed general manual machining operations on parts for the oil and gas industry on turret and engine lathes. Machining tasks included turning inside & outside diameters, boring, and facing, and drilling and tapping, either on the lathe or Bridgeport vertical mill. Performed general shop duties; preparing stock for machining, de-burring & sanding surface finishes, "dot-peening" part number information on completed parts, and other general machine-shop tasks.

  2013-2014 | Machinist Helper

  Operated several types of machine tools for production shop. Set up and cut bar stock to length on a horizontal band saw, set up and operated manual cut-off machines producing thread blanks with chamfered or radial ends, ran production parts on one of two Cincinnati-Milicron CNC turning centers. Inspected parts and maintained tolerances to .001" using precision measuring techniques with micrometers, calipers, go/no-go gages, ring gages, pin gages, and optical comparators.

  Customer service associate, paint department. Using my past sales experience in the architectural coatings trade, I assist customers in selecting and estimating all the materials needed to successfully complete their projects for all types of applications. I advise customers on the amount of material and types of tools required, the correct finishes, and proper preparation and application techniques.

  I have completed most of the coursework at Laney Colleges' Machine Technology program. I have completed all available courses in manual machining -- Machine 210, 220, & 230, learning the techniques for planning, laying out, inspecting and machining precision parts using engine lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, etc. I have completed courses in Engineering Drawing, with an emphasis on Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, Introduction to Welding, surveying different types and techniques of welding, and CAD with Solidworks. I will finish my AS degree in Machine Technology upon completion of the CNC section of the program.
