Work Experience

  • Tiff Construction

    1992-1994 | Construction Carpenter

I studied specifications in blueprints, sketches, and building plans to prepare project layouts and to determine dimensions and materials required. I would shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or a power saw. I followed all established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean environment. I measured and marked cutting lines on materials, using a rul, pencil, chalk, or marking gauge. I installed structures and fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, and trim, or hardware, using carpenter's hand and power tools. I verified trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level. I built and repaired cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, and other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, and power tools. I assembled and fastened materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue. I removed damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repaired or replaced, using hand tools. I inspected ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures.

I examine and inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and to ensure that specifications are met. I supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of construction jobs. I confer with managerial or technical personnel, other departments, or contractors to resolve problems or to coordinate activities. I estimate and requisition materials and supplies needed for the job. I locate, measure, and mark site locations or placement of structures and equipment, using measuring and marking equipment. I assign work to employees, based on material and work requirements of specific jobs. I record information such as personnel, production, or operational data on specified forms or reports. I am also responsible for meeting with potential clients to examine their needs, estimating and bidding on projects (both residential and commercial) and closing on sales.

  • Construction Services 2000

    2001-2005 | Construction Foreman

I obeyed all traffic laws and established traffic and transportation procedures during this employment. I was responsible for inspecting and maintaining vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes, to ensure that vehicles were in proper working condition. I reported any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles. I presented bills and receipts and collecting payments for goods delivered or loaded. I loaded and unloaded trucks, vans, and automobiles. I verified the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers and turned in receipts and money received from deliveries. I maintained records such as vehicle logs, cargo, and billing statements in accordance with regulations. I read maps and followed written and verbal geographic directions. I also reported delays, accidents, and other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.

  • Dallas Drywall

    2005-2008 | Plasterer Supervisor

I mixed mortar and plaster and created decorative textures in finish coat using brushes or trowels, sand, pebbles, or stones. I also applied insulation to building exteriors by installing prefabricated insulation systems over existing walls or by covering the outer wall with insulation board, reinforcing mesh, and a base coat. I cured freshly plastered surfaces. I cleaned and prepared surfaces for application of plaster, cement, stucco, or similar materials such as by drywall taping. I roughed the undercoat surface with a scratcher so the finish coat would adhere. I applied weatherproof, decorative coverings to exterior surfaces of buildings, such as by troweling or spraying on coats of stucco. I installed guide wires on exterior surfaces of buildings to indicate thickness of plaster or stucco and nailed wire mesh, lath, or similar materials to the outside surface to hold the stucco in place. I also sprayed acoustic materials or textured finish over walls or ceilings.
